A new month – week eight of Group 2!- and the sizzling, summer shine continues in Glasgow.
Last Friday, we had some of group one and group two visiting our Epilepsy Futures allotment to water the plants and have a laugh in the sunshine.
As you can see from the photos above things are coming along nicely, with fruits and vegetables starting to grow and ripen. It feels like a similar process is happening amongst the group members too, as they establish a routine for themselves and make new connections.
This theme of putting down roots continues via the workshops we have planned this week.
On Tuesday, we have another in an ongoing series of sessions to help tackle the impact of low self esteem on how we think, act, and feel.
This week we will be looking at how to tackle those critical voices in our head, that seem to appear from nowhere, and which always seem to speak with fact and authority, stopping us from trying new approaches to life.
Sharing tips and strategies to challenge these circular thoughts will be on the agenda over the coming few Tuesdays, along with planning how to break down their grip on how we see ourselves.
Then on Thursday 12th we will have the second in our block of meditation and relaxation sessions.
This week we will be working on some grounding techniques I introduced the group to last Thursday, drawing on my own past as a teacher of traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho.
We practiced some very simple methods to connect to ourselves and to feel grounded by focusing on the breath as a way to feel rooted and connected so that we can better deal with stress in our day to day life.
