On Purple Day, some of the group came into our offices to meet with Sandra White MSP, to give her some insight into the issues they experience as a result of their epilepsy.
Steven Connelly shares his thoughts about the meeting.
“Purple Day is an international day for Epilepsy, in bid to raise as much awareness as possible for the disease, as well as funds for local Epilepsy charities by turning the world purple.
Coinciding with Purple Day, on 26th March we had a very positive meeting with Sandra White MSP when she visited Epilepsy Connections.
This meeting helped her to get a better understanding of the valuable and the broad range of services available for our Epilepsy community, and to hear directly from us about what some of the issues are that face people with epilepsy.
We were all extremely appreciative that Sandra was available to meet our futures group, given how busy a schedule she has with many work commitments.
Sandra focused on every one of us and our stories, which was lovely to see. I was struck by the meaningful questions she asked like, what made you apply to Futures?, what’s next for you?
Hearing everyone’s stories again was incredible and inspirational, especially on Purple Day.
When I look back to the beginning of Epilepsy Futures, and see how people have changed and grown – Wow!, is all that I can say.
