Mary Antczak, Peer Mentor and People’s Forum member
Another of our current peer mentors shares some of her thoughts about Epilepsy Futures in today’s post.
Like Carol McNeil, Mary Antczak was an existing volunteer from the Forth Valley area and member of the People’s Forum, and joined as a mentor for our first group back in November 2017.
“My name is Mary Antczak, I live in Falkirk. I have 2 daughters and four granddaughters who keep me very busy.
Epilepsy Connections have given me a lot of support and allowed me to make lots of new friends and I look forward to future meetings.
I have recently become interested in politics which came as quite a surprise. I take an active part in our local community and enjoy attending our local church.
I’ve enjoyed coming along to the Epilepsy Futures not only as a mentor but as an interested user of this new and exciting service. It’s been lovely meeting a great bunch of people whose enthusiasm to take part has been excellent.
It’s a relaxed course and as we’re all in the same situation it makes folks feel more comfortable taking part. The sessions I’ve been to have been interesting and fun.
It’s great to see new friends change over the weeks. They’ve found their voices and their outlook to the opportunities that are available to people with Epilepsy. I hope this continues and people feel encouraged to come along and take part.”
