Epilepsy Awareness Training Session

6 April 2017, 10.30am – 1.30pm

 

  • This session is open to paying customers at a cost of £40.00 per person.  However, it is free of charge to people with epilepsy, family members and unpaid carers.

Heart-Start (First Aid Training Session)

27 April 2017, 10.30am – 1.30pm

  • The skills of emergency life support (ELS) are simple and can save lives.  ELS is a set of actions needed to keep someone alive until professional help arrives.

Memory Session

11 May 2017, 10.30am – 1.30pm

  • This session can’t cure memory problems, but will help you learn how to make the most of your memory by using practical strategies, techniques and technology.

SOS Workshop

9 March 2017, 10.30am – 1.30pm

 

Content for this course will include:

  • Explore: Stress – signs and symptoms.
  • Discuss: Physical and emotional health.
  • Identify: Own stress triggers and how to reduce stress.
  • Building: Own strengths and positive thinking.
  • Guided relaxation and Mindfulness.
  • And to finish…. A Complementary Therapy.

As you will have read in our previous Newsletter, we now have a new Fieldwork service up and running in Ayrshire & Arran with Jim Thompson in place as Fieldworker.

Fullarton Connexions Church, Church Street, Irvine KA12 8PE every Thursday from 9.00am – 5.00pm and every Friday morning from 9.00am – 12.30pm.

Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine every Friday afterniin from 1.00pm – 5.00pm with Gareth Davison, Epilepsy Specialist Nurse.

CHILDREN’S EVENTS

 

Epilepsy Connections runs regular events for children with epilepsy giving the whole family the chance to make new friends and take part in fun activities like bowling, indoor climbing and concerts.

 

Places are limited, so if you would like to come along, please ensure you are on our mailing list to receive details of upcoming events.  Call the office on 0141 248 4125 to register.

 

 

FRIENDS CONNECTED – GLASGOW

 

Our social group for adults continues to meet on the first Tuesday of the month.  Those who wish to take part can meet at Central Station at 12.30pm or go directly to AMF Bowling at Springfield Quay for 1.00pm where there will be a choice of 10 pin bowling, a meal or playing Bingo.  Please note everyone is expected to pay their own expenses.

We welcome new members who wish to meet other people with epilepsy in a fun, social setting.  The next dates for Friends Connected are:  Tuesdays:  10th January and 7th February.

THE ALLOTMENT

 

Our visits to the allotment in the West End of Glasgow are now over for 2016.

However, if you would be interested in coming along this year, we would be delighted to hear from you.  It is open to adults with epilepsy who wish to gain gardening skills and experience, get some healthy exercise, meet up with other people with epilepsy, and of course grow and take home health produce to cook and eat.  We go to the allotment every Friday from mid-March until late September/October, from 10.30am – 1.00pm.
